It sits on a round disc of steel with a brushed gold finish, which comes with it and throws a warm glint back up into the pumpkin.

Gold Leaf Caught Inside a Ribbed Clear Pumpkin

A pumpkin is a plain, homely shape, and making it in clear resin with gold leaf turns it into something precious. The ribs are cut deep, so that each one catches light differently, and the gold flakes are scattered irregularly, some lying flat and some edge-on, so they flash as you move round it. The stem is drawn out long and thin, far beyond the stub a real pumpkin carries, and it is the stem that gives the piece its whole character and wit.

It suits a coffee table, a hall table or a bookshelf, and at harvest time it makes an elegant centrepiece for a dining table. It is small enough to group with candles or books, and the gold disc gives it a bright ground of its own on any surface. A pair set at the two ends of a mantelpiece frames an autumn display.

Silver Leaf, Amber Tint and the Disc

Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. The pumpkin can be made with silver leaf instead of gold, or tinted amber or orange for a warmer harvest colour, and the stem shaped straighter or more curled. The disc can be finished in silver or black. It is packed in a small fitted box with the stem protected, and it is ready to place on a table or shelf as soon as it is unwrapped. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A ribbed clear pumpkin full of gold flakes belongs with our resin sculptures; a ribbed form on a brushed gold disc suits our contemporary and modern sculptures, and a harvest piece for a dining table joins our indoor sculptures.

Specification

Height

23.7cm

Width

17.5cm

Depth

18.1cm

Base

25 x 25 x 1.5cm

Material

Clear Resin with Gold Leaf on a Gold-Finish Stainless Steel Base
