A short curl breaks beside the foot, and the splash rests on a block of black marble.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eGold Rising Through a Loop of Clear Water\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eGold-toned flakes give the clear water its warmth, and their placing follows the movement of the splash: sparse in the open loop, crowding where the curve turns to climb, and still thick in the crest, where crinkled flakes and fine slivers reach right up the long fingers to their droplet tips. In between, the resin is glassy and colourless, polished so that every bend of the loop and every knob along the climb carries a bright highlight. The whole reads as a single movement, with the gold rising through it like spray thrown up into sunlight.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn a broad console or a credenza its 82cm, marble included, lifts the crest of fingers to a standing visitor's eye. Turn it so the open loop faces into the room, where it can be looked through, and give it a plain wall behind, against which the flakes and the droplet tips stand out best. On commission the crest can carry extra fingers or be pared back to fewer, the open loop can be widened or pulled in, and the round droplets can be given more weight. Grip the narrow foot just above the marble with both hands when moving it, never the loop or the crest, and settle it squarely on its block.
