The outer surface is deliberately irregular, broken into faceted ridges and hollows that catch light along every edge, while the interior stays glassy and open so the gold appears to float in place.

Suspended Gold Leaf in Hand-Cast Clear Resin

Each gold leaf resin sculpture is cast in optical-clarity resin around hand-placed gold leaf, so no two are ever the same: the flakes settle at their own angles and depths as the resin cures and cannot be repeated. The rock-like exterior keeps its ridges sharp, and its broad faces are polished to full transparency. Because the body is clear through its whole depth, the gold shifts position as you move around the piece and reads differently from every side.

At 56cm this is a console, sideboard and shelf-scale piece, and it suits a reception desk, a study, a dining room credenza or a bedroom dresser. The clear body takes on the colours around it, so it sits comfortably against pale oak, walnut, brushed brass, plaster and stone, and the gold picks up warm metals in a room. Indoor use only.

Gold, Silver or Copper Leaf, and a Stone You Supply

Expect 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks where the commission is bespoke. Alternative inclusion materials are offered including silver and copper leaf, alternative spans, and a marble base can be supplied where the piece is to stand on stone. A commission can be worked from a brief or from a stone you supply. The faceted faces are hard but the arrises are fine, so it ships in a fitted crate and should be lifted by the body. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Other hand-cast pieces are shown in our resin sculptures, our abstract sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Specification

Height

56cm

Width

23cm

Depth

16cm

Material

Clear Resin with Gold Leaf Inclusions
