Looking down through the glass, the grid reads as a pattern of orange lines under whatever is set on the table.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eFour Orange Panels Interlocked in a Grid\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eA graded colour has to be laid into each panel before it is cut, so the four come from sheets matched for the depth of their orange, and they are cut so that the colour runs the same way on all of them, darkest at the floor. The slots that let the panels interlock are cut to a close fit, which keeps the grid square and rigid without a bracket showing anywhere. The glass top is tempered for strength and its edge ground and polished; it rests on the top edges of the panels, which are finished level so that it lies flat.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ePlaced among a sofa and chairs, the table puts its round top within reach of every seat, and it is wide enough for a tray, books and a bowl. Clear glass keeps the orange grid visible from above, so it suits a room with a plain floor in stone, pale timber or a flat-woven rug. Another graded colour or a flat tint can replace the orange, or the base can be made colourless so that the glass stands as the only element. Bronze and smoked glass are alternatives to clear for the top, and the table can be built to whatever height a particular sofa asks for. Packing puts the glass into a fitted crate of its own, and on arrival two people set the top down square onto the panels, never sliding it.
