The crown spreads in a broad V, flung out to either side in long, rippling wings that break at their edges into fingers and loose droplets, one side leaping higher than the other. Untinted throughout, it reads as water caught at the instant a jet strikes and splashes outwards.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eA Fluted Column Bursting Into a Broad V of Spray\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eEverything about the form moves upwards and outwards. The flutes on the column run vertically, drawing the eye in at the narrow waist and letting it go into the crown, where the water fans out in every direction and thins to fingers and drops at the rim. Because the resin is clear, the outline is drawn by highlights and reflections rather than by colour, so the piece changes with the room around it, sparkling in daylight and quieter in the evening. The unevenness of the crown, higher on one side, keeps it from looking like a vessel and makes it read unmistakably as a splash.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBroad as it is, it belongs on the floor of a lobby, a foyer or the turn of a staircase, with room to circle it and look at the crown from all sides. Deep-toned paintwork behind it brings out the clear spray, and spotlights from above set the crown glittering. In a large living room it can stand in open space rather than against a wall. The price is for the splash alone, sold individually, and no base is included. Commissioned, the resin can carry a colour, solid or fading from a deep foot to a clear crown, and the crown can be drawn wider or higher to suit the space. A crate is built around it for the journey, the crown braced and every finger padded, and it is lifted by the column, never by the spray.
