The leaves are worked back by hand where they cross, since that is where a cast bundle usually loses its separation. The glass is a plain round pane with a polished edge, made to the base rather than the other way round, and it is supplied loose so the leaves can be seen through it from a seated position.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBeing round, it means no corner falls where a chair does at any position round it, and conversation crosses it easily. The leaves are the reason to have it and they are seen through the glass from a seated position, so it suits a room with light coming down onto the table rather than across it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eThe Glass, the Leaf Count, and What Arrives Separately\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eMost pieces are standard and take 3–4 weeks; a bespoke commission takes 5–6. Most of it is the fanned leaf base. Three things can change. The leaf count can be raised or lowered, the base is offered tinted, and the glass can be supplied clear as here or in a smoked or bronzed pane. Only top diameter and overall height need naming. When the spread of the fanned leaves has to agree across pieces, they are made in one run. It arrives with the glass top and the leaf tips boxed off, and four people are wanted to set it down.
