Raised ridges meander over both faces like the veins in a slab of stone. Gold leaf fills the whole body from edge to edge in bright, crumpled, angular flakes, so the resin glitters wherever you stand. It is one slab, sold individually.

Gold Leaf Packed Edge to Edge in a Ridged Slab

The ridges are left raised and glinting along their tops, and the flat planes between them are finished smooth and clear by hand; the slab itself is imported clear resin. The gold leaf is thin, bright and crinkled, torn into flakes of every shape, and there is so much of it that the slab reads gold from across a room and clear only up close. Near the edges the flakes crowd together, giving the outline a warm, gilded rim. No two slabs share the same run of ridges or the same scatter of gold.

With its width and slim depth it stands well along a sideboard, a credenza or a console, seen face on against the wall behind, and a reception desk or a wide shelf suits it just as well. A dark wall behind sets the gold flashing, and a window at its side draws out the raised ridges. Indoor use only.

Gold Density, Outline and Delivery

Time separates the two: a bespoke commission takes 5–6 weeks, a standard piece 3–4. The order is for one slab. As a commission it can carry fewer flakes for a clearer look, silver or copper leaf in place of the gold, or ridges drawn more boldly, and the outline can be redrawn as a different skyline. Other sizes can be made. It is crated upright for delivery with foam along both faces, and it is lifted by its foot with a hand at each end, never by the summit. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A broad slab of clear resin crowded with gold leaf and veined with raised ridges belongs among our resin sculptures, our abstract sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Specification

Height

38cm

Width

65cm

Depth

10cm

Material

Imported Clear Resin with Gold Leaf Inclusions
