The step is set out from the height rather than the width, so the tabs keep their pitch and the broad sheet shows a longer run of unbroken edge between the corners. The effect is a column that reads calmer at the same detail, and it puts more of the load of appearance onto the flatness of the sheet: any waviness in that span is visible where the same fault in a narrower sheet is not. Sheets are selected for flatness before cutting for that reason. The cut faces at the corner are polished to the clarity of the outer faces, and the joint is bonded from inside so the outside stays a clean step.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe wider top takes a broad-footed piece, a bowl, or a form that needs its base seen, and at 95cm it puts that piece at standing eye level. It suits a hall or a landing, and it stands up in the middle of a room better than a narrow column does because it does not read as unstable. Give it a plain wall behind. A colourless box shows whatever is behind it through both of its faces, and a patterned wall arrives twice. Keep the floor around it clear so the open base reads as a shadow line.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eLoading, Tab Pitch and Assembly on Arrival\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eDelivery follows a 3–4 week build as standard, or a 5–6 week build if bespoke. A narrower plan is made on the same joint at a different price. Tab pitch can be opened out where a bolder corner is wanted. Height is cut to order. The sheet can be supplied tinted, and a removable top is available in place of the bonded one. Delivery is flat: four sheets and a top, bonded on arrival, so nothing full height has to be carried up a stair. The parcel is a one-person carry. Assembly wants two, since each corner has to be held square while the bond takes, and a plinth set out of square shows it along every tab.
