With no block beneath it the lowest curl has to be the most decorative passage of the piece and its whole structure at once, which is why that turn is drawn wider than the three above it. A ribbon that leaves a gap at every turn asks the body to hold its own weight across empty air four times over. Polished on all faces, and the hooks are polished inside where only the gaps are seen.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA study, a bedroom or a broad shelf. It is scaled for a room rather than a hall. A pale ground behind it, since the gaps are as much of the piece as the ribbon is. Light through the gaps prints the curls on the surface behind, which is worth siting for.
