At the top a flared lip, like the mouth of an invisible jug, releases a single thick, twisting stream of clear resin that falls at a slant to the ground and bursts outward into a wide crown of spray over a flat pink pool. The stream is clear and glassy, and the splash at its foot is a soft rose pink, its fingers running clear towards their tips.

A Stream Poured From Nowhere

The illusion is the whole piece: a pour of water frozen in mid-air, with no vessel to pour it. The stream is modelled as one continuous rope of water that twists slightly as it falls, and the flared lip at the top is shaped like water just leaving a spout, which makes the missing jug easy to imagine. At the foot the impact spreads into a broad crown, its fingers thrown outward and upward. Colouring only the splash pink keeps the stream clear, so it reads as pure falling water.

At 261cm it is a centrepiece for an atrium, a hotel lobby, a shopping court or a large reception, where people approach from all sides and look up to the lip. It needs full height above it and clear floor round the splash. Daylight falling through the stream makes it glitter, and the pink crown glows against a pale floor.

The Pour, the Splash Colour and Installing It

Figure the difference between standard and bespoke at 3–4 weeks against 5–6. The splash can be tinted another colour, blue, aqua, gold or clear, and the stream made to another height. A clear splash makes the whole piece read as water; a coloured one lets the stream stand apart, and pink is the most striking. Several crates bring it, and the floor where it is to stand should be checked for its weight before it arrives. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A clear stream poured from a flared lip in mid-air into a rose pink crown of spray comes under our organic sculptures, our contemporary and modern sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Specification

Height

261cm

Width

170cm

Depth

170cm

Material

Clear and Pink-Tinted Cast Resin
