The band stops the eye at the waist and the spray gives it somewhere to go at the top, which is what a clear rock needs if it is not to be looked at once and left. A clear resin body banded in gold means the only opaque things on the piece are the two that were added, and everything else is read through rather than off a surface. Polished over the rock, through every piercing, with the band and the spray finished to a gilt.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA desk, a cabinet top or a study shelf, at the distance from which the piercings can be seen through. A pale ground behind it, so the piercings read as openings and the gold reads as gold. Light from behind opens every piercing at once; light from in front closes them and leaves only the band. Ask us to leave the band off, to take the spray out, or to finish both in another metal. Take the spray out and the crown is redrawn to end cleanly, since a rock this open needs something at the top or it looks unfinished.
