That is why the rings read as cut into the body instead of laid on top of it. The wall is kept thin, and that is what lets a turned form this size stand as a shell rather than as a solid. The whole turning is polished, with the rings at the collar and the foot left sharp.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt belongs on a floor beside a door or at the end of a run, where a single upright has room to be read. Set it against something pale, so the blue reads as blue and not as a dark shape. Lit from behind, the whole body glows and the rings become the only dark lines on it. The silhouette is known from across a room; the rings and the wall are a near fact.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eTurning It at Another Height, and One Tall Crate\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eLead times run 5–6 weeks bespoke and 3–4 standard. We will turn it at another height, change the blue, or set the collar rings deeper. Cut the rings deeper and the collar thickens under them, because a groove that far into a shell has to have material behind it. A pawn scales cleanly, so a change of height is a change of numbers rather than a fresh drawing. A single tall crate, upright, and nothing to put together.
