Colour that gives out at the extremities means the piece ends without an edge, and where a form stops becomes a question the material answers rather than the outline. The blue can be carried all the way out to the points, and doing so makes the piece far easier to place and far less interesting to look at, since the tips then end at a line instead of ending at nothing in particular.
