Each length is therefore drawn to end at the bottom of a trough rather than partway up a slope, so two lengths set against one another continue as one profile and the seam falls where the eye already expects a gap. The grade is built around the same idea. Blue is taken from the summits downward and stopped well above the foot, which means a cut end shows colourless material against colourless material instead of a hard band of pigment. Neither decision shows on a single length, which is rather the point of them.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt needs an uninterrupted run and it will not tolerate anything standing in front of it, because the whole object is a profile and a profile is destroyed by an overlap. A long console or a low bank of cupboards suits it. The blue is taken deeper or lifted almost out, the peak spacing is redrawn, and a frosted surface is offered instead of the clear one. Further lengths are made to the same profile and are ordered individually, so a longer skyline is built up rather than commissioned as one piece. The price quoted here is for a single length. It goes by sea in a single long braced case with every summit individually sleeved, and two people lift it flat rather than by the skyline.
