It stands on a tall pedestal of blue acrylic, itself built as open boxes nested one inside another and graded from deep blue to pale, which comes with it and lifts the cluster up to the eye.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eTurned Blue Cubes Over a Nested Pedestal\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eEach cube is cast and polished on every face before the cluster is assembled, and the turn between one cube and the next is set by eye so the cluster seems to twist as it climbs. The blues run from near navy at the top through a bright cobalt to clear at the base, so the colour drains out of the piece as it nears the pedestal. The pedestal answers the cubes: open boxes of blue acrylic set one inside another, graded the same way, so column and cluster read as one composition.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 151cm the cluster sits at eye level, which suits an entrance hall, a gallery or the corner of a living room where people can walk round it. A pale wall behind brings out the blues, and a light from one side throws the turned faces into relief. It also gives a quiet corner a single strong point of colour.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eCube Colours, the Pedestal and Delivery\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003ePlan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. The cubes can be cast in another colour, smoke, amber or green, and the pedestal made clear or tinted to match, or built to another height. The cluster is crated on its own with the pedestal beside it, and two people lift the cluster into place on site. The cluster can be built with more cubes for a fuller form, or fewer for a lighter one, and each cube is wrapped on its own inside the crate.
