Two thicknesses of sheet are made for it, and each carries a price of its own.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eA Slim Column of Blue for One Piece\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eA plinth of this shape does one thing: it lifts a single object to the eye and isolates it. The slim square plan keeps the column visually light, so it never competes with what stands on it, and the flat top is sized for one piece and not a group. There is no frame and no visible fixing, so the column is one upright block of blue, a cool ground for a warm piece: an amber resin, a bronze, a gold-toned or silvered object. Its narrow top is the point, since a single object on it has nothing to share the attention with.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ePut it where one object deserves attention: the end of a hall, a corner of a living room, beside a window in a showroom or a gallery. At 85cm it sets a small sculpture where a seated visitor meets it at eye level and a standing one looks down on it. A pale wall behind lets the blue read cleanly, and a light from above picks out the piece and throws its colour down the column. It can be made to another height or on a broader square, and in clear, frosted, black or iridescent sheet as well as this blue; a pair or a whole set can be ordered to match. A pair in the same colour reads as a deliberate frame for a doorway or for a fireplace. The standard or the heavier sheet is chosen in the options. Carry it upright, palms flat against two facing sides, and never by its corners or the edge of its top.
