A shell also changes what the material can do. What it costs is the deep internal light a solid block gives, which is why the blue here is carried even from top to bottom rather than graded - an even tint reads consistently through a wall of constant thickness, and a graded one would show the wall as a bright line wherever the gradient crossed it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt is meant to be met rather than looked down on, so the floor, a low plinth or a broad hearth all suit it better than a table. Against a window the wall thickness shows at the edges as a brighter line, which is worth seeing before it is positioned; against a wall it reads as a solid mass. At 100cm it suits the end of a long room or the turn of a stair, and its footprint is modest.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eWall, Tint, and Getting It Upright\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt takes 3–4 weeks to make as standard, and 5–6 weeks to make bespoke. The shell is what makes a mountain of this height liftable at all, and the even blue is chosen to suit a wall of constant thickness. A graded tint is offered instead, the blue is taken to a teal, and the peak is built at other heights. A solid version is built only below this height, for the weight. It ships standing in a braced crate, the summit sleeved and the foot braced, and two people stand it where it will remain.
