The reflected summits round off and break up, and two openings pass through the form where the halves meet. The black block beneath it is supplied.

Shallow-Water Aqua Under Pale Peaks

Aqua is the colour of shallow water over sand, and the lighter colouring makes this a coastal view rather than a mountain lake. The tips clear almost to white while the reflection holds the stronger turquoise, so the eye reads a bright sky above and water below. The mirrored half is rounded and broken against the sharp summits above it, and the room shows through both openings like open air. Polished faces keep the whole form fresh and glassy.

Its light colouring suits bright rooms with plenty of daylight, against a white or sand-coloured wall. A high shelf or a credenza lifts the waterline to where it reads, and daylight falling across it from one side keeps the turquoise lively. Keep the pale tips entirely clear of other objects.

Aqua or Turquoise, and Getting It There

As standard the build runs 3–4 weeks, and as a bespoke commission 5–6. The aqua can be strengthened to a deeper turquoise or softened almost to clear, and the tips can be left fully colourless. The openings can be enlarged for more air through the middle, and the block beneath can be made to suit the surface it will stand on. It is packed as two crates, casting and block, and assembled where it will stand by two people. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A pale aqua range over turquoise water belongs with our organic sculptures; colour strongest in the reflected half links it to our resin sculptures, and coastal light for a bright room suits our indoor sculptures.

Specification

Height

35cm

Width

85cm

Depth

17cm

Base

40 x 20 x 6cm

Material

Aqua Cast Resin on Black Marble
