A navy roll closes the shell along its lip, and the chair turns on a black column above a black disc.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eGreen Ink Clouding an Aqua Shell\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eAqua is the ground colour, and it reaches right out to the tips of the lobes instead of fading to clear. Over it the green does the drawing: heavy, dark clouds through the right half of the back, finer threads to the left, and a few loose trails settling into the seat. Where the shell curls over at the right shoulder the aqua turns to a saturated cobalt that continues round the outer face. Navy runs along the rolled lip, deepest where the shell meets the column, and the black stand keeps every bit of colour up in the shell.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt a desk or a dressing table it gives a plain room one strong note of colour, and because it turns on its column, getting in and out needs no space behind it. Sea colours look their best against white, pale grey or natural oak, while busy pattern behind the shell muddies the green. A window to one side lets the aqua glow and pushes the ink darker. Keep the black disc on hard flooring or a tight weave. How much green goes in can be steered when ordering, from a few drifting threads to clouds as heavy as these, and the aqua can be taken paler or nearer to a true blue. The stand is offered in black, as here, polished chrome or brass. Each shell is coloured by hand, so the ink settles into a pattern that will not repeat on the next chair. Shell and stand are packed apart, and the stand bolts to the underside of the seat once both are out of their crates.
