The valley between them is shallow and broad, so the two read as one mountain rather than two separate hills. The aqua sits deep in the foot, a strong band of colour that the frost softens as it climbs, and above it the slopes turn pale and misty. Every face carries the same rumpled texture, catching the light in small facets, so the piece looks cut from a block of old, compacted ice.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn a windowsill, a bookshelf or a bedside table it sits at the scale of the objects around it, and on a desk it can be turned so the spire leads or follows. Daylight behind it makes the aqua foot glow like shallow water, while side light shows up the rumpled texture. Keep the surface around it clear so the outline reads, and set it against a pale wall. For a commission, the aqua gives way to a green, a deep blue or a smoke grey if wanted, or the resin is frosted with no tint at all; the spire can be drawn sharper still, or the rounded peak lifted to meet it. The mountain can also be scaled up for a broad surface. It is boxed in fitted foam that holds the spire upright, and it should be taken out by the foot, keeping hands away from the point.
