Seen from the side the whole support reads as a single ribbon. Above it the back stands clear on two short uprights, and that gap across the chair at waist height is deliberate: from the front the back appears to float, and from behind the seat shows through it. And the gap under the back, which can stay open or be closed by carrying the panel down to the seat. Both the seat height and the overall width are yours to set.
