The top is worked into a close broken ripple, so at a distance the bench reads as a long bar of honey-coloured light. Two polished stainless blades carry it and take the amber as a reflection.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eA Warm Amber Read Through the Depth\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eA tint changes what a worked surface does. On a colourless panel a ripple is read by its highlights alone; on an amber one every trough also holds more material than every crest, so the colour varies across the working and the surface reads as warm and cool by turns. The ripple is therefore cut shallower than it would be on a clear panel, which keeps that variation subtle rather than banded. The amber is mixed for the full depth rather than for the face, since a tint set by eye on a thin sample comes out far too strong at this section.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAmber works against a warm floor where a colourless bench would not, so this suits an oak or a walnut floor rather than a pale stone. It sits a little under ordinary seat height, and the ripple is shallow enough not to be felt. The polished blades reflect whatever is beneath them, so the bench appears to float over a hard floor and grounds itself over a rug. Light from one side is what brings the ripple up.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003ePanel Depth, Blade Finish and Two-Part Assembly\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eDelivery follows a 3–4 week build as standard, or a 5–6 week build if bespoke. The panel comes in other depths and the amber is remixed to suit each one, since the same mix reads differently through a different section. The ripple can be taken coarser, confined to the long faces, or left off for a plain amber panel. Length is cut to order and other colours come from the same run. The blades are available brushed or coated. The panel comes on its own and the blades follow, each bolting to a plate let into the underside, so three items arrive. Two people are wanted for the panel.
