It is the back, it is both arms, and it is the outer wall of the seat, and it changes from one to the next without a corner or a join. From the waist it flares out and up to two points at the top, and the sweep between them is shallow enough to sit against. Colour is banked: a clear honey through the middle of the shell, a strong orange along its entire edge, concentrated at the two points, so the outline of the chair is drawn in a darker tone than its faces. The pedestal foot below is fluted and spreads wide, which is what keeps a chair with no back legs stable.
